Safewise.com likes Kirkland, and so does Greatschools.org. Greatschools.org gave Kirkland’s schools a nine out of ten, but some schools earned all ten points. Schools with perfect tens include Kirkland Junior High, Benjamin Franklin Elementary, and Environmental & Adventure School. Each one was scored based on the results of a standardized test.
Kirkland Junior High stayed in the B range when tested in the areas of English, math, and science. The state averages for these subjects were low C’s, D’s, and even F’s. Benjamin Franklin Elementary earned similar scores but got an in impressive ninety-four percent in science. Environmental and Adventure School also managed to score more than twenty percent over than the state average.
Kirkland has plenty of things to do on the weekend too. For some family competition, head down to Techcity Bowl. This bowling alley is perfect for birthday parties or the next family get-together. You can go any time of day too because Techcity Bowl has breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.
If bowling isn’t your thing, then you and the kids can take a trip to the Doris Cooper Houghton Beach Park, there’s something for everyone here. This park has a volleyball court, playground, and fishing dock, and beautiful sculptures available for public viewing. Plus, this is all near a beach, so everyone can enjoy the sand and waves while spending time with each other.

You can have fun with the little ones in Kirkland, as well as your grown-up friends. A place where you and the ladies/fellas/co-ed squad can hang out is at the Flatstick Pub. You can have their Washington-exclusive beers and hard ciders and then play a round of mini golf. Also, you can bring your dogs to Flatstick, and even receive one dollar off pints when you take them during “Yappy Hour,” which is 6PM-7PM every weekday.
If you’re in the mood for some live entertainment, then the Kirkland Performance Center is the place for you. The furthest you can be from the action is in the thirteenth row, which is about forty feet away from the stage. The Kirkland Performance Center isn’t just for plays and musicals; it also hosts events like auctions and galas.
Work, family, and life in general can be stressful, which is why Kirkland has plenty of spas, like the Joy Spa. Joy Spa is where you can treat your feet to treatments like reflexology, massage, and detox. It’s open seven days a week so that you can go any time, including Christmas and New Year’s Day.
